Biography
Mathematician, Gilles Godefroy is director of research at the CNRS. His research area is functional analysis, and in particular the geometry of Banach spaces. He is the author (or co-author) of a hundred publications, and has directed twenty doctoral students. He also devoted himself to spreading mathematics to a wider audience, which led him to publish two books (The Adventure of Numbers, The Mathematical Instructions of Use) to Editions Odile Jacob. He has held various positions at the service of the mathematician community, and is currently Director of the Doctoral School of Mathematics of Paris Center, Vice-President of the Mathematical Aggregation Jury and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the International Center for Mathematics.
