Biography
Tobias studied psychology at the Universities of Trier and Canterbury before obtaining a PhD at the University of Geneva. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at New York University and then worked as lecturer and senior lecturer at the University of Geneva. In 2015, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Geneva where he founded the Consumer Decision and Sustainable Behaviour Lab. Tobias is interested in understanding how emotions, values, heuristics and automatic affective processes help us understand our complex environment and influence our choices, and how this knowledge can be used to promote sustainable decision and behaviours. His research integrates concepts and theories from emotion psychology, social psychology and behavioural economics with the methodological toolkit of cognitive neuroscience (behavioural measures such as response times and decisions, neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI and EEG).
