Biography
Dr. Stuart Shapiro, Ph.D., is a Co-Founder and Head of Microbiology at Allecra Therapeutics GmbH. Dr. Shapiro has over 30 years microbiology & natural products experience. Dr. Shapiro serves as a Scientific and Clinical Advisor of Antabio SAS. Dr. Shapiro served as the Head of Industrial Microbiology at Sigma-Tau Industrie Farmaceutiche Riunite S.p.A. (Pomezia - Rome) and Group Leader for Microbiological Research at Basilea Pharmaceutica International AG (Basel). Dr. Shapiro served as Staff Scientist, Dept. of Oral Microbiology and Basic Immunology, Univ. of Zürich School of Dentistry. Dr. Shapiro is the Author of more than 60 research articles, author/editor of two books, and inventor on a half-dozen patents focusing on industrial biotransformations and antimicrobials, Dr. Shapiro is an expert in strategies for antimicrobial drug discovery and preclinical development.
