Biography
German native and financial industry professional; fourth generation member of the Boehringer pharmaceutical family. In 1885, ancestor, Albert Boehringer, purchased a small factory in Nieder-Ingelheim, Germany, and started producing tartaric acid salts used by pharmacies. In 1893, he discovered that lactic acid can be produced in mass quantities; this discovery led the company to the forefront of biotechnology at the time. The same year, the company was renamed C. H. Boehringer Sohn; it continued to develop and expand its manufacturing of pharmaceuticals
