Biography
Andreas Heinemann-Grüder studied history, political science and German literature at the Free University of Berlin and joined a post-graduate programme at Lomonossov University in Moscow. He earned his PhD at the Free University of Berlin in 1989 and his habilitation at Humboldt University Berlin in 1999. Past teaching assignments include the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin, Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Cologne and the University of Bonn. His research focusses on post-Soviet politics, comparative federalism, civil–military relations and irregular armed groups. He presented his research on all five continents.

Civil conflict transformation, conflict regulation in deeply divided societies, stability and instability of non-democratic regimes
