Biography
Joachim Rädler is professor for experimental physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität. He studied physics at the Friedrich Wilhelms Universität Bonn, Cambridge (UK) and at the Technische Universität München. In 1993 he received his doctoral degree for his work "On the interaction of phospholipid-membranes with solid surfaces" under the guidance of Prof. Erich Sackmann. He then studied cationic lipid-DNA complexes as a post-doctoral fellow with Prof. Cyrus Safinya at UC Santa Barbara. Rädler received his habilitation in experimental physics at the Technische Universität München and was appointed senior group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in 2000. Since 2001 he is full professor at the LMU. His current research focuses on the investigation of DNA nano-particles, supported lipid membranes and micro-structured surfaces for studies on collective cell migration, gene regulation and nano-particle cell interactions.
