Biography
Dr. Christoph Classen is currently a project coordinator at the department of Contemporary History of Media and Information Societies. After studying Psychology, History and German Language and Literature Studies at the University of Hamburg, he received his PhD from Free University of Berlin in 2003 with a thesis on fascism and antifascism in East German radio programs (1945-1953). Already beforehand, he had been working in the field of media and communication both on a practical (NDR news assistant, 1988-91) and theoretical level (student assistant at the Hans Bredow Institute for Media Research, 1991-97). Since 1997 Dr. Classen has been a research associate at the Center for Contemporary History in Potsdam.
