Biography
Annette Beck-Sickinger leads the Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Leipzig. She studied chemistry and biology at the University of Tübingen. After research stays in the USA, Denmark and Switzerland, she received the venia legendi for biochemistry at the University of Tübingen in 1995. Until 1999 she was assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Biochemistry at ETH Zurich before she accepted the chair for Biochemistry and Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Leipzig. From 2000 to 2005 she was managing director of the Institute of Biochemistry. In 2003 she was elected to the boards of Max-Bergmann-Kreis, in 2004 to the German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker), and is member of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) review board “Biochemistryâ€.
