Biography
Dr. Ing. e.h. Dipl.-Ing. Bernd Pischetsrieder was born in Munich in 1948. He completed his studies in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich in 1973. In 1973, he joined the production planning area at BMW AG, where he continued his career as technical director in South Africa from 1982 to 1985. In 1989, he was appointed to the Board of Management of BMW AG, whose Chairman he became in 1993. In the year 2000, Dr. Pischetsrieder left BMW to become member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen AG, where he was active as Chairman of the Board of Management of VW AG from 2002 to 2006. After the end of his board activity at VW, Dr. Pischetsrieder was active as advisor to the Board of Management of VW AG from 2007 to 2012. Since January 2013, Dr. Pischetsrieder is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Münchener Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft, Aktiengesellschaft in Munich.
