Biography
Elke Tönjes-Werner was born in Ganderkesee in 1963. After graduating from secondary school, she completed an apprenticeship as an upholsterer in 1979. In 1984 she moved to the sewing room/upholstery facility at the Bremen site of Daimler AG, where she was elected to the Works Council in 1990. She is a member of the Operations Committee, spokesperson of the Personnel Committee and Deputy Chairwoman of the Works Council since 2014. Since 1997, she has been a member of various negotiation groups in the General Works Council. From 2003 to 2005, she completed a training program as process manager and obtained the European business competence license level A.
