Dr. Karsten Wildberger

Biography

 Karsten Wildberger, born on 5th September 1969 in Giessen, Germany, studied physics at the Technical University of Munich and at RWTH Aachen University. After a period of academic work at the Jülich Research Centre, he obtained a doctorate in theoretical physics from Aachen University. In addition, he obtained an MBA from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France. After receiving his doctorate, Karsten Wildberger joined the Boston Consulting Group in Düsseldorf, where he worked as a management consultant from 1998 to 2003, mainly giving advice to energy and telecommunications companies. In 2003, he joined the German telecommunications company T-Mobile, where he served until 2006 in various leadership positions in London and later in Bonn, both in Finance and in Sales. From 2006 to 2011, he was a member of the Board of Vodafone in Romania, first as Chief Financial Officer and subsequently as Chief Commercial Officer. After his return to the Boston Consulting Group as a partner and managing director, Karsten Wildberger was appointed in January 2013 as Group Managing Director of the consumer business as well as the digital transformation of the Australian telecommunications company Telstra in Melbourne, Australia. In his last role as Group Executive Telstra Retail, he was responsible not only for the consumer business and digital transformation, but also for business clients and Telstra’s product development. During his time with Telstra, Karsten Wildberger was also a board member of the Telstra Foundation and of the Telstra Ventures Group. Since April 2016, Karsten Wildberger has been a member of the Board of Management of E.ON SE. He is responsible for Retail and Customer Solutions in the E.ON Group's regional units, Decentralized Generation, Energy Management, Marketing, Digital Transformation, Innovation and IT.
