Biography

Prof. Dr Klaus Günther Born in 1957 in Berlin, studied philosophy and law in Frankfurt am Main, 1983 First legal state examination, 1983-1996 research assistant and university assistant in Frankfurt am Main, among others in a legal theory group supported by the DFG under the Leibniz program by Jürgen Habermas (1986-1990); 1987 Doctorate, 1997 Habilitation, professorships at the EUI Florence as well as at the Universities of Rostock and Zurich, since 1998 professor of legal theory, criminal law and criminal procedural law at the Institute for Criminal Science and Law Philosophy of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University. 1995/96 Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin ; 2000 Visiting Professor for Comparative Criminal Law at Buffalo Law School (State University of New York); 2001 Visiting Fellow at the Corpus Christi College Oxford; 2003 Professorship invité at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Maison des Sciences de l'Homme) Paris. Since 2007 he has been a Fellow and a member of the Board of Directors at the Humanities Research Group of the Goethe University in Bad Homburg vdH

Research Interest

Legal philosophy systematically and historically; Discourse theory of law and theory of legal reasoning; Concept and theories of responsibility; Legal theory of globalization; Sociology of Law; Law and literature (Law as Literature); Fundamental problems of criminal law, including European and international references.
