Biography
Prof. Guender teaches economics and economic policy at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand with a focus on macroeconomics - money theory and monetary policy. . Prof. Guender is a native of Franke and originally came from Eisingen near Würzburg. In 1979, he went to the USA, where he studied at the universities of Texas, Austin, and North Carolina (Chapel Hill). After completing his doctorate in 1993, he joined the Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he has taught and researched since then. In 2009, Prof. Guender spent a six-month research stay at the Swiss National Bank in Zurich. In the summer of 2006, he worked as a guest researcher in the Bundesbank and before that in 2002 in the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and the Finnish National Bank in Helsinki. In the winter semester 2010/2011 he was at the FU Gastprofessur within the framework of the Bundesbankprofessur.

The special interest of Prof. Guender lies in the field of theoretical and empirical monetary policy in closed as well as small open economies
