Biography
Dr. sc. Nikolai GENOV is Prof. em. from the Free University Berlin and currently Professor of Sociology at the School of Advanced Social Studies in Slovenia. His research fields are global trends, societal transformations, risk research, interethnic relations and international migration. He has received his Dr. phil. from the University of Leipzig and Dr.sc. phil. from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He has been visiting scholar and lecturer at the Universities of Cassel and Bielefeld, University of California, Berkeley, Moscow State University, Korea University, University of Lund, Central European University, National Council of Research (Rome) and coordinator of research projects of EU, UNESCO, UNDP, ILO, Volkswagen Foundation. He is author and editor of 42 books and 270 articles published in 28 countries. Recent book publications: “Global Trends in Eastern Europe” (Ashgate, 2010); “Transboundary Migration in the Post-Soviet Space” (co-ed., Peter Lang, 2011); “Global Trends and Regional Development” (ed., NY, Routledge, 2012).
