Biography
John Richard Urry is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for Mobility Research (CeMoRe) at Lancaster University (UK). His research interest and commitment has been focusing on "mobilities" for several years, which he considers as a new paradigm for social science. Numerous theoretical and empirical publications have emerged as part of this project. In previous research, Urry dealt with issues of urban and regional change. He also examined the wider context of economic and social changes in the capitalist societies of the Western world. A particular interest was the area of ​​customer-oriented tourism services, which is gaining in importance in our time. Urry also extended its research focus to the areas of travel and the environment.
