Biography
Wolfgang Sippl is Professor of Medical Chemistry and Director of the Institute of Pharmacy at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. He studied Pharmacy at the FU Berlin from 1987 to 1991 and completed his doctorate with Prof. Hans-Dieter Höltje at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry with summa cum laude. After a one-year postdoctoral stay at the Université Louis-Pasteur in Strasbourg with Prof. Camille G. Wermuth, he returned to Düsseldorf, where he completed his Habilitation in Medical / Pharmaceutical Chemistry there in 2002. In 2001, he received the Innovation Prize for Pharmaceutical / Medical Chemistry from Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker and the German Pharmaceutical Society. In 2003 he received a professorship for medical chemistry at the Martin-Luther-University in Halle.
Research Interest
His research areas include computer-based drug design and the development of lead structures for epigenetic targets.
