Biography
Stefan Teipel is Professor of clinical-experimental Psychiatry and Head of the Dementia Research Section at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Rostock, Germany. Professor Teipel studied medicine at the University of Munich, Germany. He received his professional training in Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Munich, Germany, and held a postdoc position for one year at the Laboratory of Neurosciences at the National Institute on Ageing, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA. In 2000, he became head of the Neuroimaging and Dementia Research section at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Munich, Germany. In 2007, he became assistant professor at the University of Munich and head of the Clinical Dementia Research Section at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Munich, Germany. In 2008, he was appointed director of the Dementia Research Section at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Rostock, Germany.
Research Interest
His main interest is in clinical research on neurodegenerative dementias, with a special emphasis on neuroimaging markers for the early diagnosis and mapping of disease progression. Additionally, he has a background in biostatistics and biomarker research.
