Biography
Christoph Sowada born 1956 in Berlin. From 1975 to 1981 he studied law at the Freie Universität Berlin. 1981: First state examination. 1981 to 1988: Work as a research associate at Freie Universität Berlin (Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Proceedings - Prof. Dr. Geppert). 1981 to 1984: Traineeship training in Berlin.1984: Second State Exam. 1988 to 1991: lawyer activity in Berlin. 1991: Doctorate to "Dr. iur." (Dissertation: The "necessary participation" as a functional privilege model in criminal law). From 1991 to 1997 he worked as a scientific assistant at the Faculty of Law at Freie Universität Berlin. 1997 to 1999: Habilitation Fellowship of the German Research Foundation (DFG).2000: Habilitation (teaching qualification for the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedural law and criminal history, Habilitationsschrift: The legal judge in criminal proceedings). 2000: Chair at the Ruhr University Bochum (appointment 2001). From 2001: chair for criminal law and criminal procedural law at the University of Rostock. Since April 2009 seconded to the University of Greifswald.
Research Interest
The research focuses on material criminal law (especially in the general section), in court constitutional and criminal procedural law as well as in the case of medical criminal law .
