Biography
Dr. Ludwig was born in Vechta on November 21, 1948. After studying mathematics and business administration in Göttingen, Freiburg, Glasgow and Bonn, he received a diploma in mathematics and was conferred the title of doctor of political science at Bonn University. Dr. Ludwig has over 30 years of experience in business management positions. Following a trainee program with the German Steel Federation, he launched his career at Klöckner Werke AG. He then transferred to the trading house Klöckner & Co AG, where he was a member of the Executive Board in charge of raw materials, recycling and environmental technology. After switching to the Thyssen Corporation (later known as ThyssenKrupp), he built up the service segment there and was an Executive Board member at ThyssenKrupp Serv AG. From 2003 to 2009, Dr. Ludwig was chairman of the Executive Board of Klöckner & Co SE, which he successfully took to the stock exchange and on to market leadership in Europe and North America, after it was acquired by Lindsay Goldberg.
