Biography

Mr. Sascha Becker has been Group Chief Financial Officer and Member of Executive Board of Grünenthal GmbH since March 2015. Mr. Becker served as Senior Vice President and Head of Controlling at Merck Serono S.A. since January 2014 until February 2015. He served as Chief Financial Officer of the biopharmaceutical division of Merck Serono. He served as the Head of Investor Relations of Merck Group and Merck KGaA. He joined Merck in 2003, where he built the capital markets unit within the Finance organization. In 2006, he took over Investor Relations where he successfully integrated the Serono IR activities. In April 2009, he moved to Merck Serono UK as Chief Financial Officer where he introduced a local business partnering model with Centres of Excellence for all divisions. He oversaw the Business Development, Market Insight, IT, Procurement and Legal & Compliance teams. Mr. Becker served as Head of Global Operations Controlling for Merck Serono since June 2012. In this role, he played an important role as financial advisor to the Global Operations Leadership Team in steering the operational business, implementing the Fit For 2018 program. At the same time he supported the further development and implementation of the new Merck finance approaches, especially the OP process. He worked several years in Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank AG. He holds a Master in Economics from the University of Applied Science in Aachen and a Master of Business Administration from Ashridge Management School.
