Biography
Alexander Birkmann was part of the spin-out from Bayer which formed AiCuris in 2006. Since then he served at AiCuris as Project Leader leading the pritelivir project from nonclinical stage up to conduct of two successful Phase 2 trials. In March 2015 he became Head of Research at AiCuris. At Bayer Healthcare Alexander worked as Laboratory Head in Virology. He is biologist by training and obtained his PhD in the lab of Professor Fleckenstein at the University Erlangen-Nürnberg. Besides his more than 10 years of experience in various fields of drug development that he gained in his previous positions he is also author/co-author of several publications in peer reviewed journals.
