Biography
"Born 1941 in Scheibenberg / Erzgebirge; married to Dorothea, b. Georgi, since the 1960s, three children (Chaim, Hauke, Wiebke). 1960-1965 studied Protestant Theology at the University of Leipzig. 1966-67 Non-military replacement service as a construction soldier in the GDR army; for political reasons an assistant at the University of Greifswald denied. 1971 PhD with Siegfried Wagner in Greifswald with the dissertation »The Diasporanovelle - an Old Testament genre«. 1990 Habilitation in Leipzig with a commentary on the book of proverbs. University Teaching Office for Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew at the Catechetical Seminary / at the Naumburg Church College from 1977 until its closure in the summer of 1993; Rector 1982/83 and 1991/92. Since winter term 1993/94 Professor of Old Testament at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. Emeritus at the end of the winter semester 2006/07."
