Biography
James Adjaye is a Group Leader at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (Molecular Embryology and Aging group).Adjunct Associate Professor for stem cell biology, College of Medicine - Stem Cell Unit, King Saud University, Riyad, Saudi Arabia. He has received a PhD in biochemistry at King‚s College London 1992. He has completed his BSc studies in biochemistry at University College Cardiff, Wales 1987. He is serving as an editorial board member of 4 reputed journals and reviewer of 17 journals.
Research Interest
Transcriptional and signal transduction mechanisms regulating self renewal and pluripotency in human embryonic stem cells, embryonal carcinoma cells and iPS cells (induced pluripotent stem cells). Reprogramming of somatic cells (healthy and diseased individuals- Alzheimer’s, Diabetic, Nijmegen breakage syndrome and Steatosis patients) into an ES-like state (iPS cells) and studying the underlying disease mechanisms. Systems biology of stem cell fate and cellular reprogramming.
