Biography
Born 9 may 1964 in Offenburg/Baden, Abitur at the local Grimmelshausen-Gymnasium 1983. Following military service and freelance collaborating at the “Mittelbadische Presse” (local newsroom and culture desk), study of musicology, English linguistics and philosophy at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, graduation 1995 with doctoral studies on Boris Blacher’s Variable Meters (published by Peter Lang 1996). Subsequently half a year at the WDR in Cologne (traineeship at the historical archive, as well as assistant adviser at the sheet music archive), then until 2002 extra-musical service with Kresse & Discher Medienverlag, Offenburg, being responsible for imprimatur among others. After about two years of freelancing, research assistant at the Max-Reger-Institute since 2004 (RWV, RWA). Alongside several radio broadcasts “Musik kommentiert” for SWR2 in Stuttgart. Since 1989 guitar teacher and lecturer for music history and theory at courses by the Bund Deutscher Zupfmusiker, since 2009 conductor of the Mandolinata Karlsruhe. Compositions are published since 1996 by Joachim-Trekel-Verlag, Hamburg.
