Biography
Lilli Banholzer took on the professorship for Political Science / Conflict Studies in August 2014. She is specialised in conducting multidisciplinary and quantitative research projects at the cross-roads of international relations, psychology, peace and conflict studies and economic development. Prior to joining the University of Mannheim, she was a Research Fellow at the German Development Institute (DIE-GDI), a think-tank advising the German government on development cooperation matters, and worked at the University of Konstanz. Prof. Banholzer was also a guest researcher at the Centre of Comparative and International Studies at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. She holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Constance. Her dissertation “Converting combatants to civilians – a multi-level approach to the successful demobilization and reintegration of combatants†examined the success factors for the disarmament and societal reintegration of former combatants in post-conflict settings.
