Biography
Martin Spenger studied American cultural studies, American literature, and political economics at LMU Munich. During the 2009/2010 winter term, he was enrolled in American studies as well as in film and television studies at the University of Nottingham. After returning to Munich, he graduated with an MA in 2012. His thesis was titled “Gary Snyder: Umweltaktivist und Zivilisationskritiker†(Gary Snyder: Environmental Activist and Critic of Civilization). In autumn 2012 he joined the PhD program “Environment and Society†at the LMU where he will expand his MA thesis research into a dissertation project, entitled “Green Beat: The Gary Snyder Biography.†Spenger joined the Rachel Carson Center as a student assistant in 2010, and became a Library Associate at the beginning of 2013.
