Biography
Noemi Quagliati studied painting and visual arts at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera (Milan) and spent a semester in the Visual Communication department at Istanbul Bilgi University. She did her internship at Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea (PAC)—the Contemporary Art Pavilion—in Milan during the “Abramović Method†exhibition and was cofounder of the artistic group Enzima21. Her master’s dissertation “The Wild: A Reflection on the Crisis of Western Civilization†analyzed the relationship between art, nature, and technology. After completing her studies in 2013, she participated as a tutor in Physis (Syracuse–Berlin), a European interdisciplinary project that explores the intersection of ecology, environmental protection, and art. She worked as a visual arts teacher in Italy and trained as a tour guide in Bergamo, and between 2014 and 2016 Noemi contributed to various traveling exhibitions throughout Europe. Her theoretical research focuses on philosophy of photography and addresses the early twentieth-century debate about the role of photography in the representation of reality. Her work engages with Ernst Jünger’s philosophy, as well as the Neue Sachlichkeit and Neues Sehen movements.
