Biography
Anke has more than 20 years of professional experience with environment and health policies. She is an international expert in human biomonitoring (HBM) and persistent organic pollutants as well as an expert on sustainable development, chemicals and waste management. She has expertise in the field of prioritisation and substitution of problematic chemicals, exposure assessment and quantification of health effects. Anke has managed numerous national and European projects and workshops in the fields of sustainable production and consumption, health and environment, persistent organic pollutants (POP), waste management and risk assessment, as well as a number of large European consortia for research and policy advice. She has provided guidance for classification, monitoring, inspection and reporting, developed proposals for strategic policy development, and evaluated policy impacts and efficiency. She evaluated evidence on environmental and health risks, and elaborated concepts and training modules for improved industrial performance and the enforcement of law. She has been involved in exposure analysis and health impact assessment under REACH and occupational safety and health. Her expertise covers a broad range of topic areas in environment, sustainability, and consumer protection as well as occupational and public health. Her particular interest is on health risk reduction via a ‘health in all policies’ approach, focussing on evidence for policy decision making and method development. Anke holds a PhD in parasitology and is a medical doctor of humane medicine.
