Biography
Dr. Thomas Rücker has more than 15 years of experience in biochemistry and toxicology consulting. His current focus is on the hazard and risk assessment of chemicals and consumer products, and providing strategic and regulatory support for chemical companies in the industrial sector covering a wide range of products including auxiliaries for industry, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals and derivatives, basic inorganics and consumer chemicals. In this context, he practices within the core group of the REACH practice area of Ramboll Environ. Thomas has extensive experience in evaluating product contamination and its mitigation, focussing on food contact material (FCM), toys and textiles. He has managed projects involving molecular diagnostics, environmental screening and ‘in vitro’ and ‘in silico’ toxicology. He is well-acquainted with the German genetic engineering legislation and has performed the role of authorised person for biological safety. Thomas holds a Doctorate from the University of Bonn, Germany and a Diploma in Biology from the University of Kiel. He is recognized as a European Registered Toxicologist (ERT), is a member of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and a member of the German Society of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology (DGPT).
