Biography
Hans-Werner Hector studied mathematics at the University of Saarland and subsequently worked at the IBM in Mannheim. Here, with the above-mentioned colleagues, he recognized the potential of commercial standard software . They established themselves independently in 1972 with the company "SAP Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung " . With the growth of the company, Hector was responsible for the development of the US business after the IPO. In the mid-1990s, he left the operating business. In 1996 he sold a large part of his SAP shares. The proceeds made him one of the richest people in Germany, with an estimated wealth of 1.6 billion euros . The sale of shares in the Eugenia Trust, managed by UBS International Trustees Ltd., Jersey, was highly controversial. [1] Hector then invested in business start-ups in the fields of software , biotechnology and health . He also worked with his wife Josephine Hector as a sponsor in the cultural and medical research field. On November 25, 2003, the University of Karlsruhe,Hans-Werner Hector, awarded the honorary doctorate for his contributions to the promotion of high-grade students within the Hector seminars he had initiated. The HW & J. Hector Foundation sponsors the Kunsthalle Mannheim , which annually awards the Hector Prize awarded by Hans-Werner Hector . In addition, the Foundation awards the Hector Research Award for HIV Research , which is endowed with 20,000 euros . In 2011, the Hector donated 50 million euros for a new building to the Kunsthalle from the 1980s. [2] In March 2008, he invested 200 million euros in the Hector Science Fund. This foundation is intended to generate five million euros annually for the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology .
