Biography
Prof. Sauer conducts research in the fields of production economics, economics of natural resources and applied econometrics. His research focuses on the productivity and sustainability of farms and enterprises, the adaptation and dissemination of innovative technologies, the evaluation of agri-environment programs and the economic assessment of water resources and natural disasters. Prof. Sauer studied at the Universities of Tübingen and Hamburg as well as at Imperial College London. In 1998 he received the diploma and in 1999 the Master in Agricultural Economics. Parallel to his work in the management consulting department, he promoted summa cum laude at the University of Bonn in 2004. He then worked as an assistant and associate professor at the University of Copenhagen (2005-2007) and as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and the University of Manchester (2007-2011). Prior to his appointment to the TUM, he was a founding professor at the University of Kiel and was, among others, guest professor at Princeton University and UC Berkeley. Prof. Sauer is an advisory expert on the OECD Productivity Network, a member of the British ESRC Peer Review Colleges, as well as a professor of the German People's Study Foundation.
