Jürgen Richter-gebert
Professor
Mathematics

Biography
Prof Richter-Gebert's research focuses on combinatorial and computer-oriented geometry. In addition to his work in the field of polytoptics, he is particularly interested in the "computer-compatible structuring of geometry". In particular, he develops methods for the automatic generation of geometric sentences and works on the implementation of mathematical visualization software. In addition, he is actively involved in teaching mathematics to a broader public. He is the founder and director of the mathematics exhibition ix-quadrat at Campus Garching. Prof. Richter-Gebert (* 1963) studied mathematics at the TU Darmstadt and promoted 1992 at the TU Darmstadt, as well as at the KTH Stockholm. After two years of work in industrial research and development laboratories, he habilitated in 1995 at the TU Berlin. From 1997 to 2001 he held an assistant professor for theoretical computer science at ETH Zurich. In 2001, he was appointed professor of geometry and visualization at TUM.
