Biography
Prof. Reiss (1952) is researching the topic "Mathematical Competence" from different perspectives. Descriptive studies and intervention studies focus on the structure and development of children and adolescents. In addition, the working group of the interface between mathematics and mathematics didactics is devoted to the training of future teachers. Prof. Reiss studied mathematics and physics at the University of Heidelberg, gave his first and second state examinations, and also gave his doctorate in Heidelberg in 1980 with a topic from Pure Mathematics. Several activities at universities led her to Stuttgart, Oldenburg and Augsburg. In Munich, she initially worked at the LMU and since 2009 she has held the Heinz Nixdorf Chair for Didactics of Mathematics. Prof. Reiss is a member of the Advisory Council of the IPN Kiel, the presidency of the German Association of Mathematicians and a specialist colleague at the DFG in the "Educational Science" fellowship.
