Oliver Junge
Professor
Mathematics
Technical University of Munich
Germany
Biography
Prof. Junge (1968) researches in the fields of numerical mathematics and scientific computing. His special interest is in the development, analysis, implementation and application of conceptually novel numerical methods for challenging application problems, eg in the field of molecular dynamics, astrodynamics, system theory and image processing. After studying mathematics and computer science at the Universities of Darmstadt, Bordeaux, Hamburg and Bayreuth, Prof. Junge promoted in Paderborn in 1999. His research led him to the USA from the Georgia Institute of Technology (2000/2001) and the California Institute of Technology (2004). After his time as a junior professor (2003) in Paderborn, he was appointed to the Extraordinariat for Numerics of Complex Systems at TUM in 2005. He rejected a professorship for system theory at the University of Stuttgart (2009).
