Biography
Prof. Henningsens (1959) Research area is persistent body complaints without sufficient organic explanation. These are somatoforms or functional disorders such as pain, functional disorders, exhaustion. He coordinates diagnostic and therapeutic studies as well as functional imaging and other psychophysiological studies on the neurophysiological correlates of the complainant's life. Prof. Henningsen studied medicine in Stuttgart-Hohenheim, Freiburg, Berlin and Cambridge (UK), and he was first trained as a neurologist in Berlin and Heidelberg before moving to psychosomatic medicine. He habilitated in 2002 in Heidelberg and followed in 2005 the call to the Chair of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy. In 2006, Prof. Henningsen has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the TUM. He is a member of the Board of the German College of Psychosomatic Medicine and the Viktor-von-Weizsäcker Society.
