Tim Lüth
Professor
Mechanical Engineering
Technical University of Munich
Germany
Biography
Professor Lüth's research concerns the development of procedures and mechatronic systems in the fields of medical devices and robots for surgery, rapid prototyping, as well as assistance systems for the elderly. Professor Lüth (* 1965) studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt until 1989, and was promoted in 1993 at the University of Karlsruhe with a work on robot manufacturing. In 1994/1995 he was a visiting professor at the MITLA-AIST, Japan's robotics research institute, and he qualified as a lecturer at the University of Karlsruhe in 1997. In 1997, he was appointed C3 professor for clinical navigation and robotics at the Charité of the Humboldt University of Berlin. In 2001, he was appointed C4 professor in Berlin and received the newly created Chair of Mechatronic Medical Technology at the Charité together with the Fraunhofer Society. In 2005, he was appointed professor at the Technical University of Munich and received the chair for microtechnology and medical device technology.
