Biography
Joshua started studying physical geography in 2011, focusing on coastal ecosystems and their response to sea level rise and anthropogenic impacts. His field experience comprises airborne and ground based seagrass monitoring campaigns, but also dune and saltmarsh associated vegetation surveys in the German Wadden Sea. Further, he took part in a research expedition with the German research icebreaker RV Polarstern to the central Arctic Ocean and the North Pole, where he deployed benthic sampling gear in order to assess seafloor boundary fluxes in shelf and deep sea sediments. Since October 2016 he is part of the research group Coastal Risks and Sea Level Rise. Besides being involved in teaching, he has started his PhD, which focusses on wave and surge attenuating effects of temperate coastal ecosystems.
