W. Söhngen

Biography

Dr. Wolfgang Söhngen founded Paion AG in 2004 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer since December 31, 2015. Dr. Söhngen serves as the Chairman of Management Board at Paion AG. Dr. Söhngen is responsible for the areas of investor relations, business development and strategic planning. He co-founded PAION Deutschland GmbH in 2000 and serves as its Managing Director. He is a Co-Owner of Dres. Sohngen Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG. He initially worked as pharmaceutical representative at Pfizer Pharma GmbH. He returned to Germany and was employed at Grünenthal GmbH, where his tasks included clinical development, project management, corporate development and strategic planning. In 1997 he founded his own consulting firm Virtueality which specialised in healthcare and clinical development. After two years as an intern in internal medicine at a teaching hospital he took on a post-doc position in cardiovascular pharmacology from 1986 to 1987 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA). In 1996 he received a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine (DGP harMed) in recognition for his broad and hands-on experience in drug development. He obtained a Master of Business Communication in 1999. Dr. Söhngen received a PhD degree in 1985, after having graduated from the RWTH Aachen Medical School in 1984.
