Biography

Ms. Gianna Braun is a PhD Researcher within the DeltAdapt project at the UNU-EHS. After high school graduation she studied two semesters of Sociology and Political Studies at the University of Cologne before she started her agriculture study. She is an agricultural scientist with the focus on plant science. During her master study at the University of Bonn she developed a deeper knowledge in the field of soil science including soil chemistry and soil ecology. In her master thesis, she studies the desorption characteristics of antibiotics from wastewater-irrigated Mexican soils as affected by water treatment. By doing this, she further deepened her knowledge about soil analytical chemistry and the behavior of antibiotics in soils. Ms. Braun´s research interests focus on the concentration and application rates as well as on the fates of pesticides and antibiotics used in agriculture and aquaculture and the changes of these rates and fates due to increasing salinity intrusion and salinity driven land use changes in the coastal areas of the Red River and Mekong Delta, Vietnam.
