1992: Doctoral thesis: "Changes in the morphology of the small intestine with parenteral nutrition with glutamine in dipeptide form on the rat model" (magna cum laude, Christian-Albrechts-University, Kiel); 2004: Habilitation for the subject "Pathological Anatomy and General Pathology" at the Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn: "Relevance of the receptor tyrosine kinase kit and PDGFR for the pathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis and therapy of mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract; 2009: extraordinary professorship of the Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn; 2012: Appointed to a W2 university professorship for sarcomompathology by the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne; 2013: Appointed to a W3-University professorship for the Chair of Pathology by the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster
