Biography
Birgit Dietze has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG since June 1, 2016. Dietze was born in Berlin, Germany, on January 20, 1973. She trained as an industrial clerk from 1989 to 1992 and continued training from 1993 to 1996 to qualify as an economist. She studied law at Humboldt University of Berlin from 1997 to 2002. Following her judicial clerkship at Court of Appeal in Berlin, Germany, she sat the Second State exam in Law in 2008. Prior to commencing her studies, Dietze worked as an industrial clerk from 1992 to 1993. She was Legal Secretary at IG Metall in Berlin, Germany, from 2002 to 2008. She practiced as an attorney in Berlin, Germany, from 2008 to 2012. She was Collective Bargaining Secretary with IG Metall Berlin-Brandenburg-Saxony, Germany, from 2012 to 2016. Since June 2016, she has served as Union Secretary for policy issues and social policy with the IG Metall Executive Committee and as company representative for Volkswagen AG and AUDI AG.
