Biography
Dr. Hessa S. Al Jaber has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG since June 22, 2016. Al Jaber was born in Doha, Qatar, in 1959. She graduated from Kuwait University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1981. She was awarded a Master of Science in Computer Science from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., USA, in 1986, and received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same university in 1990. Al Jaber served as Assistant Professor at Qatar University from 1990 to 1997 and held the Chair for Computer Science at Qatar University from 1997 to 2000. She served as Program Director and IT Advisor at Ooredoo from 2005 to 2013. She held the position of Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Information & Communication Technology from 2005 to 2013. She became Minister of Information and Communications Technology in 2013 and held this office until 2015. She has served as chairperson of the Board of Malomatia since 2008, as chairperson of Trio Investment since 2016 and as chairperson of the Board of Qatar Satellite Company since 2013.
