Johannes Bersch

Biography

Johannes Bersch has been a researcher at ZEW’s Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics” since December 2012. He studied economics at the University of Heidelberg, the University of Mannheim as well as the University of Essex, UK. In his studies he focused on industrial economics, econometrics, and finance. His main research interests are in the fields of relationship banking and finance. In his dissertation he investigates the role of bank relationships for firms and the arising consequences on customers due to structural changes such as mergers or bailouts of their bank. In addition, Johannes Bersch works on entrepreneurship and industrial dynamics topics. Furthermore, he is heavily involved in preparing and maintaining the Mannheim Enterprise Panel (MUP) in order to provide a comprehensive panel data set for microeconometric analyses at ZEW.
