Biography

Akua Sena Dansua comes from Botoku in the Volta Region of Ghana, she was born on April 1958 at Hohoe which is also located at the Volta region of Ghana. She successfully completed her primary education at Kadjebi-Akan Local Authority Experimental School and then moved to the Mawuli senior high in Ho. Today she is one of the alumni of the Ghana Institute of Journalism where she was trained as a journalist and holds a certificate in communication. She also hold a Postgraduate Certificate of the University of Ghana, Legon and holds a Diploma Certificate in Journalism. She was the Electoral assistant at the Electoral Commission of Ghana from 1979 – 1980, the Chief reporter at Nigeria from 1983 -1987, the Technical advisor to the National Council on Women and Development and also as a media consultant to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She also was the District Chief Executive for Kpando under the provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) government. In the year 2001 to 2008 she was the MP for the North Dayi Constituency. She was the first female minister of the State for Women and Children Affairs (2009) and also the Minister for Youth and Sports (2010) and the Minister of Tourism in 2011. She is divorced with three children and she is currently residing in Accra, Ghana.
