Biography
Professor António J. Ribeiro was born in Lisbon and he is professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Coimbra. He received his degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1991 from the University of Lisbon. He then pursued his studies in Pharmacokinetics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University Paris XI in France. In 1997 he obtained his PhD degree from University Paris V in Pharmaceutical Technology specializing in microencapsulation. He is a specialist on pharmaceutical by training and has been working in the design and testing of biotechnology/biopharmaceuticals delivery systems. Since 2001, he has managed to develop in Coimbra a competitive research group with the aim of oral delivery of insulin. Prof.Ribeiro is the author of more than 100 publications including more than 50 peer review publications, several books’ chapters and 2 patents which have covered important areas in drug delivery, intestinal uptake of insulin, Diabetes, biopharmaceuticals and nanoparticles.
