Stilianos Karditsas

Biography

 Stelios Karditsas is a graduate of the School of Medicine and of the Pharmaceutical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.  He has specialized in ophthalmology in the UK for 6 years (North Riding Infirmary-Cleveland, Leighton Hospital-Cheshire, Western Infirmary-University of Glasgow). In 1993 he was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) of the Medical School of the University of Glasgow.  He has specialized in the restoration of low-vision  pediatric-ophthalmological and neurological diseases as well as hereditary and degenerative diseases of the retina, macular and optic nerve.            He worked as a researcher (post-doctoral fellowship) in low vision rehabilitation of children and adults, as a fellow American and British institutions and organizations for 4 years at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University, Boston, USA ..  He is a member of the Board . of the World Council of Research and Restoration of Low Vision (Executive Committee Member of the International Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation) and a consultant at the New York-based Medical Advisory Board of the National Association for Visually Handicapped York, USA.  Founded and headed in 1997 by the Greek Ophthalmology Rehabilitation Center of Low Vision (Thessaloniki & Athens).
