Biography
Dr. Theofilos Papadopoulos is DrVetMed with special interest in Public Health and in molecular subtyping of microbial pathogens. He works for the State Veterinary Authority of Western Macedonia in Northern Greece and also he is Research Assistant in Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is also Scientific Associate in Veterinary Research Institute of Thessaloniki/National Agricultural Research Foundation. He has worked as Research Assistant in Laboratory of Gastrointestinal Pathogens of Public Health England (former Health Protection Agency). He works currently in Salmonella typing using different molecular and phenotyping methods like phage-typing, Multiple-Locus Variable number tandem repeat Analysis (MLVA), Pulsed field gel Electrophoresis (PFGE), Multiple-Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and also mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. He is mainly interested for pathogens like Salmonella spp, Staphylococcus aureus, Coagulase Negative Staphylococci, E. coli, Listeria and Campylobacter.
