Biography

Stavroula Stavrakaki studied Psychology and Linguistics at the University of Thessaloniki; she got her MA degree in Language Acquisition at Essex University and completed her PhD studies at the University of Thessaloniki in 2001. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurolinguistics at the University of Thessaloniki, School of Philosophy. She is a recipient of a Marie-Curie fellowship from the European Commission. She published papers in many international journals including Brain and Language, British Journal of Developmental Psychology, Journal of Child Language, and Journal of Clinical Linguistics and Phonetics. Her current funded research projects include an IKYDA project on German and Greek agrammatic aphasia in collaboration with Frank Burchert from Potsdam University. She is researching intensively language breakdown and language impairment in children and adults. She is collaborating with many neurological clinics in Greece, including the 2nd Neurological Dept. of the AHEPA University Hospital in Thessaloniki, for this purpose.
