Tocanis Athanasios

Biography

 Dr. Tocanis Athanasios studied Military Medicine and the Aristotle University of Thessalonikifrom 1990 to 1996. He specializes in Cardiology at the First Cardiac Clinic of the University of Athens - Hippocratic Hospital under the guidance of Professor Paul Tutouzas and Professor Christodoulos Stefanadis.   After receiving the specialty title of Cardiology after exams, he was appointed Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Naval Hospital of Crete as a Department Head and from 2009 he is the Cardiologist of the 251 General Aviation Hospital and Head of the Cardiology Department of the Center of Aviation Medicine     He is an Excellent Doctor of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (Phd) and a  graduate of the Emergency Pre-hospital Medicine of the EKAB School . He is also a graduate of six faculty staff officers of the Air Force, a graduate of the Center for Aerospace Medicine and holder of many degrees and certifications such as: ATLS (advanced trauma life support), PHTLS (prehospital trauma life support), VKARPA & PKARPA (Basic and Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) .   He is a member of the Greek and European Heart Association . He is also a member of the following scientific companies and teams: Member of the Ultrasound Cardiology Working Group of the Hellenic Cardiology Society Member of the European Cardiology Society's Endocardiography Group Member of the Aortal and Peripheral Vascular Laboratory of the Hellenic Cardiology Society   He currently holds a Private Clinic in Acharnes, Parnithos 82 and is a partner of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center and the First Cardiac Clinic of the University of Athens at Ippokratio General Hospital of Athens at the following units: a) Hyperlipidemia, b) Arterial Hypertension c) Peripheral Vascular Study and d) Sexual Health and Cardiovascular Diseases .

Research Interest

   His specialization is Ultrasound and Ultrasonic Cardiography such as Stress Echo, 3D and Diosophageal Echocardiography . He has also been involved in the diagnosis and treatment of Coronary Artery Disease , Arterial Hypertension , Dyslipidemia and the Effect of Erectile Dysfunction on the Cardiovascular System.
