Biography

Federica Lucà received a M.Sc. in Geological Sciences and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences at the University of Calabria. Her research interests include: geomorphology, natural hazards, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cartography and quaternary geology. Since 2009, she has worked on the quantitative assessment of natural hazards (gully erosion, landslides, debris flows on fans, lava flows) using statistical techniques and GIS coupled with numerical simulations, development and application of hazard maps for civil defence and operational decision making, geomorphometry. All these topics are addressed in her publications and presentations at conferences. Based on her research results, in 2008 she obtained an award for the assessment of debris flow susceptibility.
